My story.

After completing my paramedic degree in 2017, I applied up and down the east coast of Australia and overseas for graduate positions. After sitting numerous assessment days and receiving multiple offers, I took the opportunity to start my career in London.

After spending the best part of three years working in the overseas, it was time to return home. Shortly after moving back, I interviewed for the ambulance service in my home state and unfortunately, prepared wrong and did not receive a offer. I was devastated. I knew that this meant I would be on the sidelines, watching all my friends live my dream career whilst I sat on the bench. I wasn’t even sure when I would get another opportunity.

This then lead me to interview for multiple private companies and begin working as a FIFO paramedic in a coal mine and an event paramedic on days off. Although these were good jobs, this just wasn’t me. I knew I belonged on the road.

In the words of Michael Jordan, “I took this personally”. I spent the next 12 months absorbing every little bit of information regarding interview techniques and recruitment processes to ensure I would not be missing out a second time.

During this time, there were rumours that my state ambulance service may not hire qualified paramedics for a number of years, so I applied for the fire service. I took this opportunity to put my new techniques in to practice. I received an offer on my first attempt. Just as I was about to accept this offer, I had the opportunity to apply for my state ambulance service again and was successful this time receiving an offer.

After sitting on the sidelines for a year, I realised that I am not the only one. Year after year, applicants that would excel in a frontline career miss out. Whether it be nerves, or preparing for the interview incorrectly like myself, they are unsuccessful in gaining employment.

My goal is to help you through this process, build your skills and confidence so you can achieve your dream career.
